pH-value

pH-value

The pH is a unit of measure which describes the degree of acidity or alkalinity of an (aqueous) system. It is defined as the negative decimal logarithm of the hydrogen ion activity. The pH-value is a dimensionless numerical quantity. The smaller the pH-value, the more acid the solution and the higher the pH-value, the more basic the solution. A pH value of 7 is neutral. The range goes from 0 to 14.
